I'm curious to see what everyone has to say about this topic. Which do you think is more of a benefit? To do PPC on the search engines or to pay an SEO company to help you?
I'm going to be venturing into this as soon as my web site is up and running but I haven't completely decided which route to take. I know how to use PPC but I'm wondering if it might just be better to pay a company to handle it for me.
Does anyone know the costs of this and what kind of results have been generated? I guess my next question would be does anyone recommend an SEO company in particular?

We have tried SEO for 2 years with multiple companies, some very well known and others that no-one has ever heard of. Som of the companies just wouldn't respond to us and some were very on top of things. The outcome of them all was the same. Lots of spend no ROI. It is such a bummer too -- but search in the marketing space you and I are in has become something totally different than what it was say 3 years ago. PPC will by far deliver you better ROI for your marketing dollars - but you have to manage it on a daily basis so you don't go upside down. I am not ripping on SEO, but in the mortgage & real estate space I believe it is a waste of your money and time. PPC will also start delivering you results relatively quickly, whereas search will average about 3 months before you see anything. That has been our experience with search, and we have spent over 60k on it.

Of course if you find a good SEO company, let me know. Search leads have amazing conversion. :)

well thanks for the input. I have heard of a couple good SEO companies from some associates but I'm not so sure about it. I'd rather just put the work into PPC and handle it on my own..

If you can learn how to do SEO(I know how) then it's DEFINITELY worth it, natural search leads are probably the highest quality.
I work for a company that does SEO/Lead Gen/Mortgage CRM development and I know that we get some returns on the paid search leads, but HARDLY ever do we get a return on a natural search lead.
We're actually hiring more seo experts to help us get more leads for more keywords.

well does your company help get the organic ranking up fro websites? If so what kind of costs are we looking at? I'm doing some research for my broker and we're looking at a few different areas to generate leads.

Id say SEO company, but the best way to find a good SEO company is to google "Search engine optimization" or something like that lol

I know that most SEO companies are just web design companies that add half-arse and outdated techniques just for the purpose of claiming to be ''full service''. I prefer doing it myself, and would recommend that to others since I've already ran around the net spending thousands of dollars on crap gimmicks.
I still think the best way to find an SEO company would be to google "search engine optimization" and pick one of the top sites because these people obviously know how to SEO. maybe even "search engine marketing"
For as long as I know, Bruce Claw and SubmitExpress have dominated these keyphrases, however, they are at the bottom of the first page for the query I just did for "search engine marketing"

Yeah but what are you ranking for right now on your companies site?

I'm not sure what exactly you asked...because I dont rank on my companies site... I rank the company I work for(their website) in search engines.
If this is what you are talking about, for which term are you asking?
We are not primarily an SEO company...
We are a lead gen company primarily...
I just work on SEO...I just started working an SEO campaign for "Cheap Mortgage Leads" on May 28th and the last I checked...We were 24 on google, I have to work on bringing our rank up a bit more..

I would say SEO for long term efforts and PPC for more immediate results. You must be on top of your PPC campaign because it can get really expensive if you don't know what you're doing.

I will recommend SEO. It depends lot on the person who is doing the work for you.
If you can get some performance based SEO work it will be great. And this is something you can only get from a good company in SEO. SEO is not about quantity it about quality.

Hi Guys,
PPC will start delivering you results quickly, whereas search engine optimization will take about 3 months or more... before you see any results.
