I was just wondering to hear how some of the other loan officers out there have marketed themselves to realtors and other business professionals in an attempt to engage on higher levels of referral business for purchase and refi loan business.
I recently have moved to a company that has a tremendous array of marketing options to realtors from drip campaigns with snail mail, marketing flyers (listing flyers, financing options, etc...), and a host of other turn key solutions including all kinds of print ad stuff.
Has anyone attempted to craigslist realtor partners listing to help drive buyers to your partners in hopes motivating them to see the tech side of things.
Let me know if anyone has any comments or suggestions.

I haven't done too much with craigs list. I need to so I can get into some other avenues for generating business. I'm currently targeting FSBO's in an attempt to do a raffle through them to get some new clients. I'm going to give away a few $50 gift cards for restaurants around town. The raffle entry forms should be finished this week and I'm going to contact some of the people I know to set up little raffle boxes. I think it'll be good. Who doesn't want to win a free dinner out? I figure if 10 people at the open house enter to win and I call them all to talk about financing and 1 person uses me then it was successful.
Do you have any other marketing ideas that I might be able to use? Also, do you have any ideas for targeting realtors?

Best advice is to see as many people as you can and introduce yourselrf. Tell them what you do and build a business/personal relationship with them.
1 day a week visiting the same time every week. Print media is just a visual supplement that that can remind them of you.
I actually give them a flyer and ask them to put it somewhere. I then ask every week if they saw someone take it.

When you walk into a Realtors office make sure you have a plan.
A presentation that will double there sales. And at the same time cost them nothing and little effort on there part.
A lot of work will be on your shoulders, but if you get with the right Realtors it will be well worth it.

all very good advice. I'm actually hooked up with 3 realtors now as well as a listing agent so in a way 4 realtors. I'll use the listing agent to go to open houses for raffle drawings and what not...
How many agents do you recommend having on your team? I'd think it starts to get to a point where it would be pretty hard to send them referrals and keeping them happy. I know some agents just care about you getting it closed and they could care less about referrals.

You can handle as many realtors as you get. A loan officer in my office now has 9, he is almost to the point of hiring an assistant to take applications and run pre-quals for him.

My stadegy is to have 2 referral partners (agents) for each territory.
The rest just send me business because they know how good I am because of someone telling them.
I do it by county and once there is 2 in a county I cut that county off. Those 2 agents are the only ones who get my referrals.
What I do when I land a new source is I hit the territory. I get in the streets and introduce myself to every business I can. You would have to see me in action. I park and walk as fast as I can and hit as many places as I can. Hi, I am Greg Phillips with Home123. I just partnered up with x agent at x brokerage and he/she said I should come visit you and let you know about my services. He/She said this is a great place for x. Then tell them what I do and he/she does and ask what I can do to help them.
I call this an advocate system. I find businesses to give discounts to my customers and I try to feed them business. I planned to send a list of discounts in a mailer to them which advertises those companies and helps them.
I do not want to type my whole business plan in here but I hope this is enough for you to get some good idea's.

Oh and when you get a clear to close call the agents office and have them stand up and say "Greg Phillips from Home123 is the best loan officer ever"
The other agents hear and ask questions. Trust me they will do it if they are happy.

There are thousands of good marketing ideas out there - the important thing is to choose 2 or 3 and work them hard...but be original and separate yourself from the competition.
I always believed that your biz volume is linked directly to the amount of new contacts you make each day
Building quality referral relationships is much more cost effective than direct mail.
Invest in an assistant to do the run around work - you should be focused on making new connections - IT WILL PAY OFF
Get involved with any networking groups you can; realtor association, chamber of commerce etc...
Anyone looking for referral partners please email me, I also work with an international property firm; If you introduce yourself and your realtor as an affiliate to our sites we can market their properties worldwide!! now that's something different to offer your realtors...

You couldn't hit it more on the head. I absolutely agree! I'd love to branch out and introduce my realtors and I to your affiliate network. Email me back with address and we can exchange information. I have a close friend and referral client who owns a freight forwarding & moving company that relocates CEO's and execs all over the world. I'd be interested to hear more about your network.
