Hey fellow loan professionals! I'm Tom Hammond from San Diego, been in the loan industry for 3 years and looking for a fresh perspective and connections to keep me moving ahead. Hopefully together we can find some creative and fun ways to get business and maintain the motivation to close month after month. Any one else from SoCal?

welcome to the forum Tom. Glad to have you around! How's SoCal? I have a buddy in San Diego. He absolutely loves it there...if my fiancee didn't have 2 kids I think we'd be down there too.
I hear people talk about California being rough for Loan Officers right now. How's business going for you?

Hey OregonLO,
I thought no one would give me a welcome, thanks! San Diego is the most fabulous place to live, you should talk your fiance into moving. I will give the standard reply on the market: business is great! I have to say that I am feeling the squeeze. I usually do business off of referral but I have found myself searching for lead programs. Any thoughts on who to purchase from? I hate the thought of buying a name and phone number but it may come to that to get throught this storm.

I haven't had any good experiences yet so I can't help you there...Sorry! I try to welcome everyone into the forums. I was surprised that you hadn't gotten any comments...
Sorry to hear about feeling the squeeze. Weather the storm! You'll be rewarded in the end. We'll see a lot of people leave the business and once things straighten out those who survived will be rewarded.

Welcome to the forum Tom. We have a lot of brokers in the SoCal area that use our program... and they all told me the same thing when they started with us. Only the strong and smart will survive the dry spell.

Hey, let's look on the upside here people...if things don't work out you're in San Diego being a full time beach bum is NOT a bad deal :p

Very funny, I hadn't thought of becoming a professional beach bum mostly because salary.com rated it as one of the lowest income producing jobs. Weathering the storm is for sure. I have always said this industry isn't about how good you sell, how many people you know or how many loans you close. It's about endurance. Plain and simple. Thanks for the welcome wagon!
