So much to know

The amount of information to be a good mortgage officer is amazing and yet I find so many people in the industry who are salesmen, and not really interested in providing clients with the best product, but giving them the best product which generates the most money for them.

Does anyone else see this as a conflict of interest?

I agree Martin, I see this time and time again. I know a couple people who are that way. To be honest it is sad and I feel that it hurts our industry. I do a great service but I keep my clients needs first. If that means cutting my commission in half because of the better product then so be it. I will most likely get referrals from them and generate more income. I guess some people just don't seem to realize that for many people this purchase is the biggest of their life.
